About MeMy name is Kellie Baltrip and I am originally from Trenton Michigan but I have lived and worked in Monroe for twenty years. I am the mother of two wonderful children who keep me very busy. We recently added a cavachon puppy to our family, her name is Ellie Mae and we love to spoil her. This is my fifth year of teaching and I have spent four of them in the wonderful world of kindergarten. I am a graduate of Siena Heights University and I am currently working towards my masters degree through Michigan State. I am very blessed and life is good!!

Outside of school and work you will find me cheering on my children....yep I am one of those crazy sports moms. I also love working out and recently started crossfit. To me working out is all about routine and completing a certain amount of sets in a certain amount of time. When I want to relax you will find me curled up with a book in my hand. I am happiest when I am spending time enjoying and laughing with my wonderful family and friends that have supported me through some amazing times.

I teach at Raisinville Elementary in Monroe, Michigan. It is one of the smaller schools in our district with only about 400 students. Over the past few years our biggest obstacle has been the growth of poverty within our student enrollment. Poverty has no pity and the implications are profound. Because of this shift in our student population I am experiencing children entering kindergarten trailing behind their more privileged peers. I have always bet on the underdog. The story of David and Goliath has always been one of my favorites and carries a strong message. To beat a giant like poverty I may have to not play by its rules to win. As you can see I am a strong believer in the power of teachers!!
